Shekinah Ranch

We are registered in the state of Colorado and have 501 (c) 3 status, in effect since 9/18/00.

We have had the surveyors mark the first cabin site. The road is done, the next steps will be to pull power and dig a well. A dear Christian brother is drawing the plans for the first cabin and has committed to helping to build it. We are still waiting for the Lord to release the finances to be able to start building...

God brought a Coloradan couple into our lives with a similar vision. They are also praying with us and thinking of ways to help with the vision. We also have a relationship with a Christian counseling ministry which is interested in our vision. Please pray for wisdom for all of us.

The McDavids

For those of you who don't know us, here is a brief background story: We spent years as missionaries in Hong Kong/China, where we met. Don was primarily in the Bible courier ministry, Mari worked as Financial Administrator in Asian Outreach Int'l. After having been married for two years and serving together, God called us to Colorado, where Don had this property and had a vision for Shekinah Ranch since 1984. Having gone through some difficult times in ministry ourselves, our desire is to give others an opportunity for renewal.

The photo above makes us sad - we had to put Dandy down on June 11, 2001 - she had cancer all over her body. On the same day, we received the notice of Shekinah Ranch tax exemption. On October 21, 2001, we picked up a new puppy at the airport (she had to be transported from Maine!). We named her Bella after her mother. Obviously, Bella has already grown from this - she is big and strong, and very different from Dandy in temperament.

We have had more of our woods thinned, as part of our forest management plan. Devil's Thumb Ranch has done extensive logging which will help the health of our forest, too. They are also building guest cabins and other buildings, which we follow with interest. One great aspect in all of that for us is that they have improved "our" driveway up to the border, which is about half of the road, and they will be mainting that part.

At the moment, we are praying about extending the road beyond the first cabin site, across the meadow to another possible site, and maybe building a pond on the creek, and cleaning slash from thinning the woods.

Mari's pet is a pretty parakeet, Snow White...
